2009 International Competition
The 2009 WorldSkills Australia Skillaroos are a team of 26 young apprentices, trainees and vocational students who have recently returned from the 40th WorldSkills International Competition in Calgary, Canada. The WorldSkills International Competition represents 51 member countries and regions worldwide and was established in 1950, with Australia competing in every competition since 1988.
This year, the team won 12 medals in ten categories, maintaining Australia’s ranking of fifth in the world in this competition. Daniel Jones represented Australia in the Web Design trade and came 3rd in the World!
2008 National Competition
The 2008 WorldSkills National Competition was held
at the Sydney Convention Centre from 11th -13th July.
The competition ran for 3 days and is the culmination
of the WorldSkills regional competitions.
Medallists from each of the regions competed in
over 50 categories, testing and benchmarking their
skills against their peers as they aimed to bring home
a gold, silver or bronze medal.
The national competition involved around 500
competitors and attracted a massive 45,000
strong audience.
